Supplies for Teachers~Teacher Appreciation Week 2013

Teacher Appreciation week continues and today I have supplies for teachers. Today's gift comes with mixed emotions, lol. Some people don't think its a good idea to give the teachers supplies at the end of the school year. I beg to differ. The first day of school will be here before you know it and I am just giving the teachers a head start to the new school year or some last minute supplies for the few weeks left. Anyway, this is today's project along with taking the teachers lunch from Chick~Fil~A.

The containers I picked up at dollar tree last year, the apples I cut using a pre~installed image on my imagine and chalk board vinyl. Inside the containers are a box of crayons, ruler, glue stick, ink pens, yellow highlighter and pencils. I also made the tag and heat embossed the sentiment. Added some curling ribbon and day 4 is complete!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you do leave a comment or two! Have a wonderful day.

Flowers for teachers~Pinterest inspired project ~Teacher Appreciation Week 2013

Its Wednesday Everyone and do you know what that means? Yep, its time to honor the teachers with flowers. For todays project I painted a flower pot using spray on chalk board paint, and patio (outdoor) acrylic paint. This is a project I saw on pinterest and absolutely adored it. There are some amazing talented crafters on pinterest. If you haven't joined my only question is why not?

Anyway, the flower pot a picked up at Michaels a while ago with the anticipation of doing this project. The spray on chalk board paint I've had for years. Literally I've had it for about 4 years and never used it. Brought it from home depot with the thought of making a chalk board door in the kids rooms. That never happened! Glad I am not the type to get rid of things, at least crafty things anyway.

Ok, so here goes the tutorial for anyone wanting to try this at home. First, I covered the areas I did not want painted with blue painters tape. Then I sprayed on the chalk board paint. Allowed that to dry before applying another coat. Be sure to use spray paint in a well ventilated area like outdoors. Next I painted the rim of the flower pot. I used the primary yellow color for the ruler part and Santa's red for the lower (plate) area. Next, I took a measuring tape and used it as a guideline for the ruler markings. Please excuse my handwriting it isn't the best. Once everything dried I conditioned the chalk board surface by rubbing the side of a piece of chalk all over it and washing it off. Final step is to take a flower and plant it in the pot and add a sentiment.

There you have it! Day number 3 complete.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog have a wonderful day.

The ribbon is snug hug that I dyed using tim holtz inks, the sentiment is from CTMH "Thoughtful Tidings" stamp set and the embellishment is jolees.

Shadow Box Initial Frames ~ Teacher Appreciation Week 2013

Happy Monday Bloggers,

Today is the first day of week long activities honoring the teachers at the kids school. I've been busy creating things for the teachers and today I would like to share with you the shadow boxes I made for them. These are so very easy and fun to create. I used the cricut cartridge "Chip Decor", along with the chip board letters from Hobby Lobby. Its good to get them when they are half off. First I painted the letter using acrylic paint. Be sure to paint all areas that will not be covered with scrapbook paper. Next, cut the paper using the chip decor cartridge. I cut mines at 3.5. The size is on the packaging. Once you have everything cut and the chip board letter has dried its time to adhere everything down. My go to choice for adhesive is my pink ATG gun. The shadow boxes I used are 6 by 8 so I just took regular cardstock and trimmed it down to that size and adhered it to the back of my shadow box. Because I wanted to make sure the letter had a tight bond to the cardstock I used both my hot glue gun and my ATG gun to adhere it down. The final steps are just embellishing the letter, and shadow box.

My kids were very excited when they saw them and could not wait to give them to their teachers.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to leave comments. Have a wonderful day.
